2015-The Year of The GOAT

Happy New Year my people! At least you are alive and reading this piece. You have survived Dumsor. You have outlived the power barges and Bui and Akosombo and Kpong and Atuabo and what have you hydro or hydra electric dams. Dams without water. How do you build dams without a source of continuous supply of flowing water?
At least the guinea fowls are returning from their sojourn in Bourkina. Nowhere cool, my people! People will munch on the dry meat of the akonfem this year. It is healthy too. No eggs though. They run away leaving the eggs behind. At long last JJ will smile. His pal Sankara will finally see justice after how many years? Will the judges and unknown ones families also have closure? I bring not sad memories but rather urge you to think, to meditate in this season. Do you really want to make merry? Give me a good enough reason. That you are alive? That another year has come to pass? That you achieved your dream; your set goals? I say it is good to break bread and sip wine but even better to remember your beginnings and afford someone that opportunity to live life; to enjoy life; to celebrate life.
The year 2015 has been fraught with name-calling. It has been symbolized by no mean name than that of a Goat. A goat that was categorized as dead. Even the BBC mentioned it.
First he described himself as a dead goat. He said he feared no knife be it blunt or sharp. He was immune to pain until someone called him ‘Incompetent”. He complained bitterly.  He said he was only a dead goat. A whole sitting president described himself thus. Immediately his citizenry descended on him like Lavender Hill flies. He started the dead goat business. Ask him. He lived up to it to. He looked his people in the eye, raised a fist to the heavens and said ‘ I promise on my honor never to promise to promise anything to you again. Especially Dumsor. It will end in 2015. I promise. As soon as the power barge arrives. Walahi. I promise. Sorry ooo! I promised never to promise again but when you are born to promise and not to lead…” And he went on and on…
Then the ace broadcaster with a silken voice also threw caution to the wind and decided to become like a He-goat. Pub3b3b3b3b3! Pub3b3b3b3. Straight to counter back. For the weekend. Through the weekdays. To the walking stick. A stylishly dressed goat with a limp. The lady in question did not talk. Her supposedly boyfriend did all the talking. The lady was purported to be a virgin. I believe he mistakenly must have penetrated when practicing his Mcing act. He was left off the hook. Did someone take a goat or goats?
Let us visit the soccer field. Turn your Imagine TV on. It is not only on the field of play but also in the bedroom. Allegedly dribbled past the first goal, centered the ball, drove long one into the second goal. Alleged pregnancy at once. Since when did A-penetration produce babies? The man is also allegedly unstoppable. Like the proverbial short mountain goat he has the dexterity of a bulldozer. The ‘abotia” damaged the girl. The case has been thrown out of the courts. Lack of evidence. Pay up or we will release videotapes. Even the rasta man was not left out.
This other goat is a Sokoto Gudali. Very foolish GOAT. Head of a hospital, he preys on innocent women. There had been others. This one was his last stop. No mercy for the cripple. You should see the dogs that stopped him. He went there in an official vehicle. (why do most men like going to the homes of the ladies to do the do?) In his case, there are videos. He is on his knees begging; crying: mp3333 mb33b333 hahahaha. Pitiful sight. How on earth does a man who has vowed to follow Christ and uphold the tenets for which Jesus the Christ lived, turn around and demand sex with married women? He is not an Osofo; He is a Brother. If you don’t kowtow to his demands, he denies the victim promotion. If you give in to him, you become one of his sexual objects performing lewd acts everywhere anytime to the detriment of their marriage. He managed to put people on his payroll but for the vigilance of the public. He sought all means to sway justice. He even went into hiding to avoid being invited for questioning by the People’s Services. People get voice oooo. I am hoping he sees the inside of a cell. Anas please watch him and the courts.
To crown it all, are our almighties that wear the white crowns. Purported wigs of wisdom. They laid claim to some choice goats (no sheep or guinea fowl). Some requested for fair damsels to quench their insatiable libidos. Their bellies carry unknown pregnancies. I wonder how they penetrate? The very people we had entrusted to uphold the law rather twisted it with the impunity of an Abossey Okai (abossokai) macho. Some have been let go with benefits. Some without. Others still parading the corridors of power begging, threatening or entreating? Were none of the top two tiers corrupted? That is my question for her Ladyship. To crown it all an edifice was built to house their offices in Accra. I am more interested in the backyard. It has green grass and is well kept. Is it to house the goats that are brought around? I beg oooo. Na joke I dey joke.
Hope is not lost. Hope is on the way to Ho. It is there, Ho pe! We can as a people turn things around.
We can as a people change our diabolical and corrupted mindset and go for a blueprint that would build upon what our forefathers built.
I believe in plain common sense and a call to action without violence.
Let those who have made it not look down on those struggling. Rather it would be nice, befitting to offer a hand of help so it carry forward.
Let us eschew tribalism, nepotism, selfishness, greed, avarice.
Let us embrace love and unity. A hint of Godliness reflecting in our daily lives would be a true reflection of our religious activities.
Sit in your room. Reflect on your 2015 life. Do not make a useless resolution. Rather look in the mirror and say “ I am changing for the better this year. I will SPEAK OUT! The truth and only the truth.’

I am only a messenger
I have come to deliver

  1. Another good one on many serious issues, laced with good humour as well. I think Ghana, we need some level of patience too. I don’t know how you hope to solve dumsor in one year, when it has to do with massive infrastructure that we do not produce ourselves. We are the people who elect, appoint and elevate these goats. In politics, social and even church domains, we continue to prop them, help them to cover up, patronize them for peanuts. Poverty, ignorance, low self esteem are part of it. Good job. Please continue talking by the pen!
