Introduction

Everything that ends has a beginning. It does not matter how it ends. It surely has a start date. EMWL Financial Services did not happen overnight. It took ideas and capital. It took risks. It took sleepless nights. DiDiMaMe likewise started with so many trips to the homeland. Countless flights. Trustworthy partners. Today they are launched and delivering food to whatever location. They had a start date. DatabaseConsultGh is another company that is still in the works. From birth they are on. Soon they will start crawling.

Majority of the schools in Ghana are celebrating anniversaries. Bishop Herman College in Kpandu in the Volta Region is one such school. My almer mater.  The school has birthed notable personalities including “On the road” Amigosten Amish, countless judges and lawyers, visionary entrepreneurs, musicians, filmmakers, financial gurus, my biological father and some uncles, numerous cousins and yours truly #SILENTNOISES.

We all started from somewhere.

I urge you to reflect deeply and sincerely. I urge you not to be judgemental for we know not fate. I urge you to look within yourself and not at others.  Do not attempt putting up walls around you. Acknowledge what we are about to talk about.

At the start, I  made mention that no one knows the beginning. Tell me. Email me. Tweet. Facebook me. Any medium of communication. I just want to know if you knew you were going to be born. I would be surprised if any knew.  You were born and grew knowing this is what you responded to as a name. You were born and told that man and woman were your parents. Unless you are the first born, you just trust and believe that all others are your siblings.

So there, my brother, my sister be humble; be kind; be loving for this life is not for us.

Kwasi (First name rhymes with Crazy but he is not) Ntem-Mensah is a father and a husband. He is a mentor, a Fatherhood Consultant and a member of the Fatherhood Roundtable. Kwasi is currently the Fatherhood Initiative Coordinator working with ECHN-Family Development Center’s Healthy Families Healthy Babies program. He is the co-chair of ECHN’s Unity Collaborative where the work is focused on Diversity and Inclusion. Kwasi is a member of the Board of Education of Manchester. He also serves as a director of The Manchester Land Conservation Trust and is the Secretary for The Council of Ghanaian Associations in Connecticut. He is also on the CFSP Advisory Council. Kwasi does collaborative work with the DOC and DCF. He is the creator of ReadToMe and Celebrating Our Fathers events. Kwasi facilitates 24/7 Dads and Circle of Security parenting. He is the author of the anthology of poems and short story “A Silent Noisy Walk in My Mind” and publisher of “SilentNoises.org”. He is also a radio presenter at CMRadio, a Ghanaian radio station based in East Hartford and a member of AABAC, an advocacy association for people of color. Lastly, Kwasi is a wonderful community advocate that is eager to work with people all races, genders and socio-economic background

  2. Brave is he that leaves his well paid job to start his own thing not knowing how it’ll go. Kudos to brothers who ventured. While one is walking now the other is drinking milk and will soon walk.
    The passions and zeals exhibited by these chaps leaves me with no anticipation of fear. Success is their ultimate aim and will not take a no, a drawback, a challenge as an excuse to fold arms. Wishing you all the best of your endeavors
