Food for thought!!

God bless our homeland Ghana

Hail to thy name, O Ghana

To thee we make our solemn vow;

Steadfast to build together
A nation strong in unity;
With our gifts of mind and strength of arm,
Whether night or day, in mist or storm,
In every need whate’er the call may be,
To serve thee, Ghana, now and evermore.

I receive. We receive. Receive it. O yes I receive it. That is the most common refrain on the lips of everybody today. From the temple to the streets, from the working zones to the bathrooms. All are receiving it. Especially the ladies. That is not the issue though. What is it with the sudden rise of the charismatic revival in Ghana that even the orthodox churches are now holding charismatic revival programs and even tongue speaking? Do not get me wrong. There is nothing wrong with speaking in tongues. It is very…

Metamorphosis

How many times have you been told you are incapable of achieving something? How many times did you not hear about not being good enough?
How many times have you been shut down as not being knowledgeable enough? Without encouragement, how can we achieve? To grow and be successful, it starts from day one. It starts with speaking positive words to the young. Even adults.
Some years ago, I wrote a literary analysis on some poems as part of a class assignment. I deviated from the norms of literary analysis. I sought to carve a new road for myself. The then senior tutor rubbished my work. I received practically an F. I recopied the same piece of work and gave it to another literature teacher. He scored me with an A. He commended me for my train of thought and encouraged me. He sowed in me the seed of positivity Thanks to him, I still write.
A teacher actually told my dad, with my behavior I would end up dead or up to no good; more like a useless person. I was an extra extrovert then. Few years down the line, this same teacher met us again. My father and I were coming from communal labor. I had done a lot and looked unusually dirty. The question posed to me by said teacher with a look of disdain and contempt on his face was what I was up to now. My dad responded with my credentials in the Judicial Service of Ghana. The said teacher literally had his lower jaw dropping.
Today I am an adult. I have three lovely kids and a very supportive wife. I have siblings. I am the eldest. It behoves on me as a victim to turn the script. I have indeed flipped the script.
I will encourage. Always. When I see potential I encourage. When I see weakness, I motivate with the sole aim of helping the one to realize their true potential.
Now, sit and reflect. If negativity is part of your life (it comes with lies) then desist. Make “encouraging” your middle name.
Uplift someone. The fact that you have been slammed with negativity before does not mean you should continue that with others.
Be Positive.

Sensa..

Sensa…

Sitting on the fence
Without any pence
They sought them out
Without thinking to flout
They spewed forth
That which was only froth
For there was no substance
To arouse sustenance.

It is a cycle
In a constant motion
Not a motorcycle
Nor a bicycle
But a humancycle
That without any premonition
Breaks off and starts
In jerks and spurts

One word: Sensationalism
