Why? Just a bit of Common Sense

It is as though we never learn. It is as though we constantly wait for disasters to take place and move into the realm of lamentation. It is as though we cannot thrive as a people without a so called prophecy goading us on like sheep or cattle being guided through a gate. Why o why?
If I had my own way and if I had the means, I would take some people to court for failing as administrators of the nation to cater for the general well being of its inhabitants. People are voted into office not to abuse power but to serve the people. With that service comes perks that are supposed to compensate for lack of certain freedom or constraint that goes with the duties. It is sad that people think they are “voted into power’. No. The power resides in The People. They are rather “voted into office”. We need to hold accountable to office people who are in the helm of affairs when things go wrong. Invariably one way or the other, the buck stops at their feet.
What is this nonsense of everybody predicting and prophesying? Go get a job. yes get a job. I will not point fingers but then a true man of GOD has a job and still gives off the little he/she has to the needy. A true man of GOD will not dwell on fear and create panic among the flock. A true man of GOD will intercede silently and will not just open their mouth as though they are suffering from diarrhea. A true man of GOD will urge you to find your GOD given talent and work diligently to succeed in light. Today, all have fallen short of the glory of GOD, mentioning HIS name without fear. It is as though we cannot survive without being told what we have to do. Why do we need someone to tell us that unless we do so we are going to die? Let me point this out, The fear created in you does not allow you to see clearly ahead and do the right things. They take away your freedom, ingenuity and your very self. You have allowed these fraudsters to sit at home and eat good food, drive good cars while you toil and feed their habits. One aspect I do not get is their pictures on flyers. Is it because Jesus the Christ has no pictures? Why o why?
we need to wake up as a people. Yes wake up. we need to rewire our attitudinal thinking and rewrite not only our individual blueprints but that of our country Ghana as a whole. Let us begin to question and hold accountable those in office.
1. Who gave permission for a store to be built in Achimota that collapsed and killed some innocent people? how have they been held accountable? There are countless incidents that can be linked to these “wayside” architects.

2. Road accidents. Accident reports. Have they been followed up? Are the suspects held accountable?
2A. If the road accident is due to the negligence of a road construction contractor, what has been the outcome? Any fines? Any trials? Any suspensions?
2B. If the road accident is due to shoddy work, have both the supervising party and the contractor been hauled before a regulatory body?
2C. If the road accident is due to faulty road vehicle, has the individual who declared such vehicle road worthy been reprimanded/suspended/fired/prosecuted?                                       2D. Have we thought about prosecuting the drivers and owners of these vehicles that are parked by the roadsides or on the roads in the name of being “broken down”? Do we have a tow truck industry in Ghana?                                                      2E. DVLA?

3. General Negligence: Have those in charge been processed before court for causing negligence for this or that? Have they been been reprimanded/demoted or in any way or form been held accountable?

4. Can we as a people condemn lawlessness and stop shielding wrongdoers? How many of us keep on intervening for criminals (especially the ones who steal from the poor) and go behind closed doors (in camera) to work things?

5. Corruption. Be prepared to stand trial for being corrupt. Do not think because you are going to pay the so called  ten percent as tithe and sow a seed so you are absolved of your sins. No! That so called taking money from you is aiding and abetting and should likewise be charged and prosecuted.

6. How about those top police officers who take money to free the suspects? How about those top police officers who abuse their office for stomach gains?  Will they be shielded by political guns or will they be let loose to hang? Are they ruled by law or are they above the law? Not only the police officers but all those in uniform who should be upholding the law and protecting the citizenry!

I am begging you as you read this article to commit yourself to changing your attitude. Change your thinking. Hold yourself accountable. You will depart this earth one day. Go with a clean conscience. Do not have anyone’s blood on your hands or head for trust me the curses so generated will follow your descendants. I am livid but …… I am counting on you. Ghana is counting on you. #SILENTNOISES is counting on you. Your conscience is counting on you. REWIRE ATTITUDINAL THINKING!

I am only a messenger.

Life in a glass.

I stood by the couch. He stood by me. His beautiful lady of a wife who has adopted me as a brother was getting herself ready. My wife was finishing up on a couple of items. Others had left. Only three other young men sat in an open space in the kitchen.

Previously, he had taught me the principle of “Me first”. We had a heated debate on it being “God First”. He said undoubtedly God is always in the beginning. His infinite concept can never be captured but when you acknowledge Him, then you are rest assured He takes precedence over all deeds and thoughts. That was how we ended at “Me First”.

He gave me the analogy and its precepts. A glass, some gravels, a rock, some water and sand. Then he asked the order in which I would put these in a glass. He asked me to think carefully.

I choose not to provide my answer. I challenge you to try and provide an answer yourself.

We live our lives as in a glass. We do certain things without recourse to its relevance. If only you and I will take the time to put things in their right places of priority. If only we would reflect properly before taking action; if only….

We live our lives as though we are islands and when our actions bite us, we blame others for our inefficiencies. We tend to pack our glasses without structure and when it cracks or at worst, breaks then all hell breaks loose.

The truth is we do live our “Life in the glass”.  Reflect. Prioritize! Do what is right.

It is good to have mentors. It is also good to be a mentor. You can be both.

Rantings of Daddy

Today, I wish my mom was alive. I wish my favorite aunt was alive. I will not mention her name out of respect to my cousins. I adore the beautiful truth that I can cook. I can actually cater for a sizable party. All thanks to my mother and others. I will be quick to point out that l Papa Kow Acquaye , your uncle did not like the idea if his three sons frequenting the kitchen as cooks for the day or week (whichever as directed by mom). In the end he loved and appreciated the cooking of his boys. Much respect Dad. In the last days, in the absence of a mother who had earlier departed to be with her heavenly Father, in the absence of a son who had decided to be called ‘Daddy’ in *Obimanso*, my brother the lawyer cooked and took care of the old man. Salute brother! Always love you!
Now where did my mother go wrong? Tell me please. Tell me I cannot rewire my attitudinal thinking to say it is ok for me to help around the house. Tell me it is wrong for me to do activities with my own biological ‘spermatozoa’ children while mom is away at work. Being with my children is not babysitting. It is called PARENTING! It is bonding time with them. It is a time to grow attachment and create a healthy relationship. It builds the family and takes away otherwise evil thoughts.
I thank my mother. My mother left early. Too early. Not even seeing a grandson who today makes the best breakfast in my household (love you still wifey).
Enough. Gentlemen, it is ok to help out. It does not demean you or make you less of a man. It is okay to scrub the bathrooms and whatnots. At least you are assured of its cleanliness in entirety. Let others learn from you that they might commit same in their household.
How about the dads who decide to braid their daughters hair themselves? I am baffled (apologies to Guy Foxx).
It is very true that the man is the head of the household. We thank God for that position. The head leads by example. The head does things worthy of emulation. The head brings all under an umbrella of unity.
I do what I have to do. I will continue to do same. I know some very good friends too who do same. We will work. Both at home and outside. We are still men. With balls. And yes we love our women. They call us ‘Daddy’! We live in the U.S.!

In my opinion…

I am in church. I am writing this article in church. I am inspired, I dare to believe, by the Holy Spirit. I need to put this down before I forget.
The dressing is amazing. The ladies are dressed to the nines. Their jewels embossed with the cross. The gentlemen are much simpler but their necklaces. Hmmmm. Huge crosses  as though they are Jesus. In fact I believe these crosses could have been used on Golgotha. Now this a Ghanaian community church. I can therefore imagine the dressing in the churches in Ghana. The sheer opulence of dressing. Then the character…
Ghana has been bedeviled by outrageous corruption of late. The magnitude of the corruption on a Richter scale of an earthquake would equal a 12. The impunity with which these acts are carried out and then they go to church sowing seeds and paying outrageous tithes and offerings without ……
Most of those involved in these corrupt practices would call on their church leaders to intercede for them and attribute their ways to the devil. Most of those involved are ardent churchgoers.  Church elders. Church what-nots!
I am lost here. Why portray yourself as so holy and indulge in such heinous crimes? Does it not beget your thinking? To cap it off, is the fights and untoward behavior. I am watching the current dancing and I am baffled. Baffled and bewildered by what they portray. These same people and their counterparts worldwide would leave their church personas behind and immediately they set foot out of church, it is as though the very devil is their sibling. You know I strongly believe lawlessness and corruption will be curbed if these men in the pulpit will say it as it is and not live heaven on earth. Let us speak to the truth.

If you believe this can be done, share to rewire attitudinal thinking.

Still, #SILENTNOISES

Lost

I lay here in somber reflection,
Not a moment of a feeling of affection;
It is total and utmost injection;
Into my heart and mind of rejection.
It is what I feel most;
I have run and lost;
I am wondering the cost.
Water me with the frozen waters
Jolt me into a reality that matters
Will the sun rain its rays?
Will I be protected like the rose?
Will I seek refuge like a sunflower?
I will cast shadows
To give shade and joy.

The Onion

The road is straight.
The line is straight.
The path is straight.
The vision is…is it?
Hm!
It’s an onion, you peel it a layer at a time.
Patience, maturity, acquired skills, learning as you go.
The curves, bumps, potholes, roundabouts, hills, caves, declines, etc
All you need is a destination in mind and you’d get there.

TRUST YOURSELF AND THE PROCESS.

“Onaapo” New Year OOOO!

My eyes burn. It is bad. What do I do? No choice but to sleep. In sleep do I wake and when I wake, I am present. In the being.

Some fifteen years ago, a young musician highlighted a show in Ghana. He wore a suit. It was made out of local print. He believed in merging the Western with the African if not Ghanaian. To me he still is one of Ghana’s finest dancehall kings. Big ups Terry B wherever you are!

The best music award goes to …. The best composer I will give to Nacee and crew. The words of their song was two edged. So it came to pass the table was turned and NADAA became president. He was sworn into office in January of 2017. Change has come. Change is knocking at the door. People want to swerve change.

Tweaaa! For where? People say they are only one year into office so we cannot compare but charley if the song is nice you will play it twice. Inauguration day was like the first independence day. The euphoria was ecstatic. The yoke had been lifted. Alas it was and is still the same oxen!

So it came to pass that there was saga over stolen cars. Exes wanted to keep their honorable titles and the equipment that went with it notably the V-8 and V-12 Toyota Land Cruisers. That was and still is the Hallmark of an Honorable (No work but you want to chop nyafu nyafu). Some of the cars were chased and seized from the bush.

The new old government was not perturbed. They believed this was their year.(What about 2018?) They pushed through 110 ministers to head and deputize at the various ministries. Herrrrr. Typical case of the boys must chop. People complained and begged. People wept and pled. The new old government said NO! 110 is my number. After all, somebody chose to distribute I10 Hyundai cars or ? Similarity is family. Aloooo?

In March of 2017, GAJ was born. The gestation period was…. I have forgotten. GAJ hosted a massive event after coordinating to help host the Black Stars of Ghana and their American counterparts at the Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Ct. Congratulations to Founder and CEO Mr. Fred Kojo Kyeremeh and his team. We want more action from you guys. Visit GAJ at www. GAJReport.com

Then overnight it came to pass. Proper Onaapo. To wit ” you won’t get”. It was like your dad before travelling promising to bring back chocolate and actually fulfilling his promise. Free SHS came into fruition. Sweet. Every one will attend school. Every new thing has bottlenecks so is Free SHS. So is GhanaPost GPS. But this GPS wahala… I like the way some refer to it as “Bawumia GPS”.  Could due diligence not have been done? Why the rush? In haste to cross the road, one tends to be knocked down by an oncoming vehicle. Patience is a virtue.

Or is it because lawlessness still prevails? Some Invicible yet visible forces were bold enough to descend on the white wigs and nearly recreated them. They even stormed the seat of the new old government and tossed opponents about like volley balls. Them be macho! The prosecutors were so scared they said they were no witnesses to their rampaging bullish behaviors. (The prosecutors were afraid)

Charley, matter don come house. English exercise: What do you get when you combine Capital and UT ( is it a word)? Answer is CAPUT! Done. Finito. So did two banks end. They did not make it into 2018. No crossover for them. Capital and UT bit the dust. Terrible year  for them after winning awards the previous year or two. In fact one of the banks had one of the country’s top notch pastors on its board and as a mega shareholder. The prayers did not work neither id he “see” the writing on the wall. Truly no one knows tomorrow. Lol

The president of the new old government fired off a serious Salvo to the French leader. I felt so proud watching that clip. As for the slavery in Libya, he did not say much. Or did he? The president must do  more. I think he should stop the promises (is he trying to be called John D.M.) and just do what must be done. Ghanaians voted for change and he must ensure things change lest he be changed.

2017 saw an increase in nudity. Not as in mental health issues or can it be put so? but as in stage craft paaa. Free show. Please don’t enter 2018 with that …..

Bukom Banku was demolished, destroyed, restructured, rehabilitated, reconstructed, rebuilt, (add more) by an unknown. The Beast. The guy do Bukom pasaaaa. He does not grant interviews again and behaves very well now. I have not heard or read about him using the opposite sex for punching bags or sparring partners again. Hehehehe

Some left us. We remember them. We applaud their work. Especially those that departed in road accidents and at the mercy of the health centers. What could have been done? What was done? Are we still passing the buck? Or we will rise and do it? Mr. President, please stop the unnecessary purchase of high end vehicles and invest that money in health care, road network and education. Please.

On that note, I thank you all for a wonderful year and equally wish you all a Happy New Year!

As for “One corner”, hmmmm but I love “Bronya”. The award goes to “Onaapo, Onaapo…”

Reflections

’tis the end of year. Many look forward to the holidays. To some it will be Holy Days. Others will be in the merry mood; getting to meet friends and family long lost and yet unseen.
’tis crazy to think, all too soon the year is over; done;gone. It is time to reflect; reflect on our activities during the past year; reflect on our lives as we have lived it and most importantly (to me) reflect on how we have treated others. In this year just gone by.
The beauty of Reflections is they allow us to do soul-searching. Not just any type of soul searching. Reflections allow for answers to deep hidden truths that our innate self would never allow to the fore. These truths we allow to hide from our own selves and allow the lies we live everyday to the surface and parade the very corridors of our lives. Everyday.
I ask of you, at whatever time you read this article to make time for YOU and reflect. Please reflect. Solemnly.
On my part, i first say thank you to each and all for your continous support and fair criticism. I also apolgize to any that i might inadavertently have crossed.
Blessings Always.

Any Sunday

On Sundays churches are full of people. It is amazing to see them. They attend both Orthodox and Charismatic. They attend churches of true men of God and magicians. I am more interested in couple of things.

Does going to church every Sunday make you a good or better Christian? Does going to church every Sunday mean your prayers are qualitative or quantitative? How many times have we as people not sought to project ourselves as pious whereas we perpetrate some of the most heinous crimes against humanity? Yes, we project ourselves as righteous yet are the very ones to offer a bribe before a job is done. How about this? On Monday morning we will receive bribes after “receiving” in church. How sad!

I believe the every Sunday church attendance has become something of a formality. I believe we go in to show off our new hairdo: our new shoes bought from eBay; our new sunglasses (we wear them throughout church service); our new clothes; even our new cologne/perfume. Why?

Another time I will visit the issue of picking particular areas to dwell on during preaching but then what is good for the goose is good for the gander!

Remember church is not to socialize but to join in unity and purity to offer prayers unto the Supreme Being, The Creator.

I am only a messenger.

I have come to deliver.

The Funeral

For a reason …

#SilentNoises ~knm's avatar#SilentNoises ~knm

funeral drums

We have come to mourn,
Many, like the teeth of corn,
We have been apart torn,
Coming here this morn.
In clothes never worn,
We have come to mourn.

In colors of the rainbow,
Our culture is no more
Traditions are a bore
And longer at the core.
Rainbow is the new black,
Laughter to bid farewell.

I have come to mourn
Unlike you who choose
To seek one to moan
After a funeral celebration
For a life well lived.
Though we cared not when you sought us
Yet to bid au revoir,
We are here.

Dirges are played
Few tears water the earth
Merriment for a new beginning
Footsteps pound the earth
Unto each his own
Unto each their story.
One day it said
We will meet again.
